CrossFit
CrossFit is a combination program designed to give you athletic results and the confidence to take on the daily tasks of your life!
What Do We Do In CrossFit? CrossFit is a combination of strength and conditioning training; the name CrossFit comes from the idea of being fit across multiple skills. We want the strength to pick up, squat or press heavy weight and still be able to run distance or speed, to move your body weight in a pull up or push up and jump to a high surface. In CrossFit we work with barbell strength and skill, kettlebells, dumbbells, medicine balls, push-ups, pull ups, running, rowing, jump rope, height jumping, carrying, sled pulls and more. At OPC we cycle our strength training in 4-6 week cycles to get you progressively stronger and more confident in the movements of that cycle. We train conditioning every day, with longer endurance twice a week.
How Do We Run Our Classes At Old Pueblo? Our classes are guided start to finish by a coach to help our members understand the movements and perform them in a safe and effective way each and every class. Classes run as a group through stretching and warmup to prep the body, we then go over the movements and break down the skills and positions, workout standards, proper loading, and expectations for the workout. Members work at their individual skill and strength level and coaches are there to guide and correct form, motivate and encourage pace and effort throughout the workout.
Because of the variety, people who try CrossFit are often surprised at the fun and rewarding feeling of achieving things they had never previously tried or even thought possible. We are here to guide you to be the best version of yourself and keep you fit and healthy for years to come!
Speed School - Youth and Teen Program
Taught by an IYCA Certified speed and agility coach, this class is for young athletes wanting to maximize their sports performance. Participants will train drills and exercises for increases in speed, running technique and direction changes, agility, jumping distance and height, as well as explosive power, simple and complex movement coordination. An increase in confidence means an increase in reaction time and in sports, every second counts!
-Foot Work Speed and Coordination
-Jumping – Distance and Height
-Running Technique and Speed
-Directional Changes – Forward/Backward/Lateral/Diagonal
-Injury Prevention – Stability/Mobility & Fast Reactions
-Kettlebell & Dumbbell Weightlifting with Body Weight Strength Training
These classes are run in 4 week cycles – Currently September 4th – 27th and October 16th – November 8th. Options are once or twice a week. Private group team training camps available by scheduling.
Youth Gymnastics & Weightlifting
A program designed to improve confidence, strength, body awareness, and sports performance! Learn skills for gymnastics basic shapes and how to build it into movements for push-ups, handstand work, pull ups and toes to bar. Kids will also get the foundational weightlifting techniques for squats, overhead press, deadlift, and cleans. Ages 8-13 (6 week program. April 2nd-May 9th).
Kickboxing
A one hour movement-packed class where you’ll learn basic to advanced punching, kicking, elbows, and knees for an effective full body workout full of fight relevant skills and fun. Participants must have their own gloves and hand wraps. We have some available for purchase onsite.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
A one hour class of instruction for positioning and take down techniques. Includes warmup, breakdown, and drilling of movements, positions, submissions, and escapes followed by live rolling. Skills learned in this environment are applicable to competitive Jiu Jitsu, MMA and tactical skill for police and military.
